Physician NonClinical Careers with John Jurica

Nov 26, 2019

Dr. Jarret Patton is a physician coach, national speaker, award winning author, and podcaster. He worked for many years as a pediatrician and hospital leader prior to beginning his full-time nonclinical activities.

He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and completed his pediatric residency at New York University and Bellevue Hospitals.

Doctor Jarret is the founder and CEO of DoctorJarret, PLLC, a firm which helps educate, enlighten, and improve healthcare. He does this through his books, coaching programs and public speaking.

His transition was unplanned. It occurred following an unexpected life-altering event. In today’s interview, Jarret explains what happened and how it changed his career trajectory.

I learned about his story after he published his book called Licensed to Live: A Primer to Rebuilding Your Life After Your Career Has Been Shattered. I found the book to be eye-opening.

I think every physician should read it, if only to understand how legally vulnerable we truly are. But it's also a great story about rebuilding after a tragedy, and how helping others allows us to recapture our calling as healers.
