Physician NonClinical Careers with John Jurica

Jan 14, 2020

Dr. Gerald Diaz is a former computer software engineer who created an online medical image repository that provides significant cognitive offloading to busy clinicians.

Gerald started as a software engineer. Then he discovered that he yearned to have a more tangible impact on people’s lives. So he pursued his medical education.

He received his medical degree from the St. Louis University School of Medicine, and completed his residency in internal medicine at UC Davis. He is a full time hospitalist.

After successfully practicing medicine for a time, he found himself wanting to apply his technology background to solving medical problems. And what started as an idea and a hobby is now positioned to become a successful business.

His company, GrepMed, is a crowd-sourced, searchable medical image repository. It makes high yield diagnostic and management algorithms, guidelines, checklists, evidence summaries, clinical images, and videos easy to find and accessible from any web browser.
